How long does it take to implement a skills intelligence platform, and what does rollout look like?
Three to six months, from contract signature to validated skills on every job and every employee in scope. That range holds for most large enterprises. A smaller organisation with a clean data landscape lands nearer three months, while a rollout spanning many source systems, geographies and works councils runs to six or seven. The same work done manually typically takes 12 to 18 months.
Where the time actually goes
Two to six weeks gets you technical readiness: integrations connected, the first inference run, and initial skill profiles on both jobs and employees. Everything after that is business readiness, meaning validation rounds with your subject-matter experts, governance setup, and the change management that has to happen before anyone acts on the data. Most of the calendar goes to the second half, and almost none of it is model time.
Value lands well before go-live. Job-to-skill profiles come first, because they touch job architecture data and no personal data, so they are usually delivered across the whole organisation within the first weeks. That gives leadership something concrete to look at while employee data is still being validated in parallel.
The phases
Onboarding runs four to twelve weeks, in three blocks of roughly four:
- Weeks 1 to 4, integration and setup. Source systems agreed, the data delivery template filled, connections built or secure file transfer established.
- Weeks 5 to 8, baseline inference. First skills intelligence on both the job side and the employee side.
- Weeks 9 to 12, validation. Subject-matter experts review job-skill profiles, employees accept or reject their own inferred skills, and the data starts flowing into the systems that consume it.
- Months 4 to 6, activation. Use cases switched on, further populations added in waves, and your own team trained to run the governance console.
Four workstreams run in parallel through all of it: data delivery, integration, use-case delivery, and enablement. Scoping happens before contract and becomes the statement of work. A dedicated project manager and implementation consultants run delivery, two weeks of hypercare follow go-live, and a customer success manager takes over on a monthly cadence. We deliver most implementations with our own team rather than handing them to a systems integrator.
